Park Place at the Pond wins free turkey burgers
Park Place at the Pond is the Grand Prize Winner of the Jennie-O Sponsored Turkey Burger Contest for an outstanding turkey burger recipe. The prize includes a MAKE THE SWITCH ® event sponsored by Jennie-O including free turkey burgers, an appearance by a Jennie-O food trailer, and outside event support.
The event will be held Friday, September 15 at Park Place. Appalachian community members can come for a free Jennie-O turkey burger from 11 a.m. while supplies last. Select toppings will be provided.
Entrants were asked to submit their best, original turkey burger recipe along with a photo of their delectable masterpiece. Turkey burger recipes were judged on their creativity, appearance and menu description. To win the competition, the Park Place team crafted an Italian turkey burger creation.
“We wanted to do something that no one had done before,” Food Services Supervisor Jon Young said. “Everything about this burger recipe has its roots in Italy: the acidity of the sundried tomatoes, the cheese and basil that showcase the turkey flavor, and the crunch of the way the burger was prepared.”
The Park Place at the Pond team worked together to innovate the turkey burger, and is excited about their big win.
The award was announced at the Premier Annual Conference this summer.

A Jennie-O turkey burger egg washed and breaded in a mix of Italian breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and smoked sun dried tomatoes pan seared and baked to perfection. The burger is topped with thinly sliced red onion, and a homemade garlic pesto aioli, served atop a fresh-baked brioche bun, and garnished with fresh basil.
