About Student Employment
Food Services is the largest employer of students on campus and provides opportunities for students to earn valuable work experience, leadership opportunities, and competitive wages. Food Services also works with students to find a schedule that blends well with their academic and extracurricular activities.

New Student Employees
Hiring for new employees for Fall 2019 begins April 29, 2019 for jobs starting in the Fall 2019 semester.
If you do not currently work for Food Services and are interested in joining, schedule an appointment with the Student Coordinator's office. When prompted to sign in, please use your App State Gmail account.
A new student employee is someone who was not previously employed in any capacity at Appalachian State University. And, must bring proper documentation to their appointment:
- Completed Employment Application and Tax Packet (Print one-sided)
- Class schedule
- An original* identification document: Social Security card, birth certificate or passport.
*Applicants must present an original document to be eligible for employment copies or pictures will not be accepted.
- Reclaim appointments for current employees: March 28th - April 10th
- New Hours appointments for current employees: April 11th - April 26th
Returning Student Employees
A returning student employee has previously worked at Appalachian State University less than one year ago. Returning employees must bring re-signing documentation to their appointment:
- Completed Employment Application
- Class schedule
